Should Men Go For Detox?

Toxicity has become a huge concern in today’s society. It jeopardise our health with toxic chemicals, air and water pollution, radiation, and nuclear waste. We ingest new chemicals, use drugs, eat sugary and refined foods, and abuse ours body daily with stimulants and sedatives.

Who Should Detoxify?

Almost everyone needs to detox and rest their body from time to time. Some of us need to cleanse more frequently or work more continually to rebalance our body. Why detox? Many men might ask and ponder. Gone are the days where detox is meant only for women. Men these days should really learn and know how to take care of themselves. Taking care of their health also means looking after their inner health. Your body reflects your inner health. When overworked and overburdened, the liver’s efficiency is reduced. As a result, toxins accumulate in the blood. A proper detox regime – ideally for a period of 3 weeks increases the consumption of food that encourage the elimination of toxins, helping our lymph system, liver, kidneys, digestion and skin to work more efficiently. Citrus fruits like lemon, lime, grapefruit, orange help fortify the liver and are rich in antioxidant vitamin C, on of nature’s most potent detoxifiers. So wherever possible, bump up on these.

15 – 30 minutes later:
1 bowl of cooked whole grains – millet, brown rice, amaranth, or quinoa are the best choices. Oatmeal may be used since this tends to be many folk’s favourite as a breakfast grain, but it does contain some glueten.

For flavouring, use 2 tablespoons of fruit juice for sweetness or 1 tablespoon Better Butter with a little sea salt or tamari for a more savory taste.

Lunch: (noon – 1 pm)
1 to 2 medium bowls of steamed vegetables. Use a variety, including roots, stems, and greens. For example, potatoes or yams, green beans, broccoli or cauli-flower, carrots or beets, asparagus, kale or chard, and cabbage, 1 to 2 teaspoons of dressing, such as Better Butter, can be used. Be suer to chew well!

Dinner: (5 - 6pm)
Same as lunch. For any who are fatigued, or feel they just need protein, 3 to 4 ounces of fish, poultry, or bean, can be added at this meal or better even at 3 to 4pm.

Special Drinks: (11am – 3pm)
This is the water that is collected from steaming the vegetables. It contains many nutrients and offers a more alkaline balance for the body. A bit of veggie salt or garlic salt can be used.

Before Retiring:
Consume no additional foods after dinner. Drink only water and herbal teas.

Note: The times of eating are relatively important, especially finishing eating by 6pm, or so, or by nightfall at the latest if your schedule can’t conform. Having that rest from food overnight is important to the detox process.
